What types of memorials do you care for?
Coastal Gravestone Services works with granite, marble, bronze markers, cemetery monuments, statues, outdoor sculptures, and other memorial features. Every item is evaluated according to its material, condition, and surroundings before work begins.
Do you use bleach or pressure washing?
No household bleach or aggressive pressure washing is used on historic monuments. Cleaning products and methods are selected for the particular material and condition of each memorial.
Can every monument be made to look new again?
No—and that is not always the proper goal. Natural aging and stable patina may be part of a monument’s character. The aim is to remove harmful growth and deposits, improve its appearance, and preserve as much original material as possible without unnecessary alteration.
Do you clean and refinish bronze markers?
Yes. Services may range from careful cleaning to removal of a failing coating, surface preparation, restoration of appropriate highlights, and application of a protective finish. The recommended treatment depends on the marker’s condition.
How do I request an estimate?
Send the cemetery or location, the name on the monument, a description of your concerns, and photographs if available. The monument will be evaluated and the recommended work and cost explained before service begins. (coastalgravestone@gmail.com)
Do I need to be present while the work is performed?
No. Arrangements can often be made by telephone or email, and photographs can be provided to document the monument before and after the work.
Is cemetery permission required?
Requirements vary among cemeteries, churches, and memorial parks. Any necessary authorization should be confirmed before work is scheduled. I can help in attaining authorization.
How long does the work take?
The time required depends on the material, condition, treatment, weather, and cemetery access. Some cleaning jobs can be completed in one visit, while conservation or restoration work may require several visits and appropriate curing time.
What areas do you serve?
Coastal Gravestone Services is based in the New Bern area and serves surrounding communities throughout Eastern North Carolina. Contact us to discuss work outside the immediate area.
Can you provide routine cemetery or family-plot care?
Yes. One-time visits and periodic care may include inspection, appropriate cleaning, removal of light debris or vegetation around the memorial, and photographs documenting the site’s condition. Routines inspection and care can be arranged as an ongoing service.
